Get Back on the Horse

September 27th, 2006 by Lauren

Jack the HorseI’ve found that my love for New York has quickly spread from Manhattan to Brooklyn. Yes, Brooklyn–that vacation over the bridge and across the river. Brooklyn Heights and DUMBO offer something that Manhattan cannot…space. As much as I love to eat directly next to tourists, pedestrians and dust-scattering cars, I find that my inspiration to be a better person is greater when I don’t have people constantly asking for money or telling others to f$&K off as I eat a $17 Cobb Salad.

Ink Me

Joe Squirrel

Last year, two days after my birthday, I got a tattoo. I’d always been intrigued with body art and decided that it was high time I got in the game. Why get a tattoo now and not, say, ten years ago? Because ten years I lived in Minnesota, not New York City, and I figured that if you’re not willing to buck up and take a risk here there’s really no hope.

Farewell, Fair Meadow

September 19th, 2006 by Tracee

Sheep Meadow

One of many notoriously favorite summer locales in the city for me (and many other Glamourite’s in the bunch) lies in the heart of Central Park. Sigh, those beautifully luminous New York weekends where you feel you need to be outside till sunset. But for those of you who might be too hungover or tired from a long work week to make a road trip out to one of the good beaches, this is the best solution. It is great for basking in the sun, catching up with friends, people-watching, yoga, and countless other pastimes that tickle your fancy. I have been there numerous times since the turn of the summer, and yet every time I enter the park, my experience is always different, and wonderful. Unlimited surprises. As the mornings grow colder, and the seasons change, I must bid adieu to my favorite grassy knoll. However, I cannot help but remember all the moments and sightings that Sheep Meadow has to offer.

Hips Don’t Lie At Quo

September 12th, 2006 by Lauren

Quo

My hips didn’t lie at Quo. By that, I mean I had a great time. The bartenders are friendly the DJ’s wink at you regularly and the bathroom attendant is about the sweetest lady you’ll ever meet. She works on tips, of course, and will kindly ask for your birthday, tell you about your sign, your future, and hand you a paper towel as you head out the door to enjoy the old school music you used to love.

Talk About Gorgeous

August 31st, 2006 by Katie

Candis Cayne Sunday nights are not for Grey’s Anatomy and pizza delivery in New York City. They are a hidden gem for great performances and weekend wrap-up cocktails without hordes of people literally stepping on your toes. In accordance, I found myself with my Glamourite girls, Tracee and Elle, sipping on a gin and tonic, con splash-of-grapefruit, on a school night in West Chelsea. Thankfully the venue, ‘Bright Bar,’ had a hip crowd with eyecandy for days. Of course, that’s the tease about going to an event with a gay audience. Beautiful men are expected, but here we also discovered the gorgeous Ms. Candis Cayne.
