Take Me Out

July 31st, 2006 by Erica

Yankee Stadium

I was a Yankee Game virgin. That is until yesterday. And while we’re all being honest here, I have to say that I haven’t been to a baseball game (of any league) in at least ten years. It has been far too long. My good friend Erica (what a fabulous name!) decided to deflower me by taking me to my first game ever at Yankee Stadium to celebrate my birthday. Boy, was it an awesome present!

The Best Music You’ve Never Heard

Granian

“The Best Music You’ve Never Heard” was the catchphrase for the B. Sharp Indie Showcase at The Living Room this past July 18th 2006. One of my favorite things about New York City is the variety of live music you can come across on a daily basis at different interesting and eclectic venues around the city. For this particular showcase, six artists/bands from across the country were chosen to perform, melding together a good variety of sounds and genres, at the intimate (and, well, living room-sized) Living Room at 154 Ludlow in the Lower East Side. The bands that made the cut were the Derren Raser Band, Under Shade, Christopher Dallman, Michael Logen, Sam & Ruby, and my favorite, Granian.

Shakespeare in the Park

July 12th, 2006 by Erica

Summer Stage

Sunday was just one of those beautiful days where you did not want to be inside, so when I was offered the chance to see the closing night of Shakespeare in the Park’s “Macbeth,” of course I went for it. Two of my friends arrived in line at Central Park’s Delacorte Theater around 5:00 AM - a time of day I have not seen recently.

Despite the early hour, they dragged themselves out of bed a little after 4:00 AM (!!!) and faithfully waited in line until the box office began handing out the free “golden” (well, actually green) tickets at 1:00 PM. Now that’s dedication.
