Girl’s Night Out

Sipping my bottle of Little Black Dress Pinot Grigio through a straw (yes, as you can tell I was the pinnacle of class), all senses were on high alert as the true talent associated with navigating masses of women on a mission to bargain shop set in.

Attending a Shecky’s Girl’s Night Out Shopping Event takes some spunk and pizzazz. Be ready to deal with crowds of New York females using all of their muscle to break through to the display tables and take full advantage of their full five hours of discount shopping mania. The open bar was extremely necessary to help deal, but I felt as though I had truely won the jackpot when I found the least populated of the three show rooms. Finally I was able to see what each stall was offering. Overall, I must say that the prices were pretty good – up to 75% off retail price in some cases. I bought a fantastic pair of Kate Spade sunglasses for $60 off and I even found one of my favorite jewelers, InnaSense Gems, whom I had discovered during previous street fairs in the Village. I also received an awesome, though slightly funky, makeover from Vasanti, a newer line of cosmetics from Canada who are about to storm the States.

Unfortunately however, the majority of what the booths offered seemed to cater to a younger crowd. It would be great if Shecky’s would create a night of sample sales presenting only high-end fashion designers, make-up artists and…well…liquor. Now for THAT I wouldn’t so much mind the bruised arms and aching feet.

If you’re a true Manhattanite, you’ll fit right in. Shecky’s hosts Girl’s Night Out extravaganzas multiple times during the year, and they will be hosting an awesome Beauty Night Out on Thursday, August 10th. Check it out at Sheckys.com to receive free updates. These events usually consist of three nights at the Puck Building on Lafayette Street. You can either buy tickets online for $35 (which includes the awesome free goody bag) or at the door for $45 (alas, sans goody bag).
