Treo 700p Launch at Skylight

Being the established techie of the group, I just recently attended the Treo 700p smartphone Summer Launch Party at Skylight. Just a little precursor…the last Treo 700 release ran Windows Mobile (boo) and now released a second reincorporating the ever-popular and easy-to-use palm OS software. For more info on this history, check out Engadget. Since I saw the genius in combining toys for adults (at least for me) and open bar, I decided to bust-a-move to get there in relative time, since the Early Bird event started at 5pm.
As I arrived at approximately 8 (hows that for fashionably), I was greeted warmly and given my very own name-tag to display my affiliation, sort-of like a “Hi My Name Is…” badge for marketers. The event was pretty casual (biz cas sans tie), and the men to women ratio was obviously leaning in my favor.
The catered food and scattered tables laden with snacks were fantastic. The open bar, as of course you know, sublime, but listening to grey polo-clad middle-aged salesman pitching their business solutions to me as I sipped white wine in a gorgeous loftish space was an odd experience.
I got to try out the new Treo, play some X-Box Nascar racing, a challenge due to working a gas pedal in high-wedged heels…and gather chips to enter the raffle for a few Treos - which became a competitive sport to these gadget-hungry New Yorkers. The entire evening was sort of like a sup-ed up Sprint store, only I had a few cocktails…and left without a new Treo. Darn.
